VENUE: Gallery Central, 12 Aberdeen Street, Perth.

Presented in partnership with North Metropolitan TAFE, this survey exhibition charts the evolution of Angela Stewart’s practice and her enduring fascination with portraiture over four decades – featuring a range of painting, drawing and painted photography, including works from the North Metropolitan TAFE Art Collection.

Drawing inspiration from Italian Renaissance art, particularly the works of Sofonisba Anguissola, the artist delves into the intricacies of historical portraiture, peeling back layers to reveal the essence of artistic doubt. Through meticulous rendering and exploration of traditional elements, her pieces weave imaginary narratives, inviting viewers to decipher the forensic trail of each work.

Angela Stewart's oeuvre, held in major collections across Australia, showcases her mastery of technique and enduring dedication to the craft.
