WA Today, the west coast outpost of Sydney Morning Herald and The Age, ran a feature on Art Collective WA exploring our unique model which emerged in 2013 in the face of multiple gallery closures across Perth.

Written by arts journalist Mark Naglazas, it features interviews with Director Felicity Johnston and artist Kevin Robertson.

“Our culture tends to focus on shiny new things,” says Johnston, as she takes me through the creatively focused private club Mello House in the nearby State Buildings, whose walls are lined with work drawn from Art Collective WA.

“We want to show the work of quality professional artists, but these things take time to develop. There are plenty of opportunities for early-career artists to show their work. It is an important part of their development. But Art Collective WA brings together and serves those who have had long professional careers and continue to work at the highest level.”
